FFF - Pajama Party

for more FFF PJ party postsWell I know this doesn't look like the typical Pajama Party, but this was what our Pajama party looked like last night in the ER. Karaline went roller skating with some friends of ours and i just had this gut feeling when I sent her that it wasn't a good thing. John, Kollin, Karson, Kemry, and I were on a walk through our neighborhood (Karly was at a friend's house too) when I got a frantic call from the mom. She was sure it was broken and Karaline was crying for me and she didn't know what to do. We threw little Karson on John's back and started RUNNING back to our house and they nearly had her at our house by the time we got back. When I saw it I thought, "WOW, that doesn't look bad at all'" It wasn't swollen and was slightly bruised, but Karaline was in so much pain I knew it was something. we went on to the ER, and it was. It is a green stick fracture. She caught herself on the way down and "compressed" both her radius and ulna near her wrist. She is splinted tonight and will get a cast tomorrow at the orthopedic surgeon's office. Believe it or not, this is our first Cash family fracture (and on our MOST cautious, careful child)! We're experts on x-rays and sprains, but no broken bones until last night.
This morning we met with the orthopedic surgeon for the cast. She chose green, her favorite color. :) She felt a LOT better this morning than she did last night.
Here's my sweet girl faking a smile...it was really starting to hurt her without her splint and sling.
Who would think this is broken? It is barely swollen, and you can hardly see the bruise.
Then came the casting
It's burning up inside mom mom! Then came the cool green. :)
That's it....no getting it wet for 4-6 weeks. They had many reasons they wouldn't do a waterproof cast. We are a water-loving family, so this is going to be HARD. If anyone has any tips on ways to keep this thing dry for the pool, lake, ocean, tub, pleeeeeeease let me know! :)
